Since 1993, Sumitomo N.Y. has been meeting the needs and providing services to our Westchester clients. Recognizing the changes in the marketplace and the need for specialized services, we created our Commercial Division in 1997.
In 2014, Sumitomo N.Y. launched our short term & long term office rental service, "Sumitomo Executive Suite," which is in close proximity to Grand Central Station, the United Nations, government agencies, and multiple Japanese Corporate offices. Over the years, we have gained great popularity and support for our service to clients opening their businesses in the United States.
Sumitomo N.Y. was also designated the exclusive agent for sales to the Japanese market at high-end condominiums such as the Gotham in 1992, the Alexandria in 1990, and the World Wide Plaza in 1988. Sumitomo N.Y.'s International Division successfully marketed over 100 units at World Wide Plaza to Japanese clients and in 1994, the company also conducted development and sales at the Millennium Tower which is one of the most successful super-luxury high rise condominiums on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. In 1997, the company was selected as the exclusive agent for the sale of condominium units at the famed Essex House, which overlooks Central Park.
Sumitomo N.Y. has grown out of Sumitomo Real Estate Sales Co. Ltd. (Tokyo), and marked its tremendous success during the 1980s through marketing programs involving Central Park Place, Zeckendorf Towers, the Vanderbilt and the Cosmopolitan. The parent company that is Sumitomo Tokyo was established in 1975 and it employs experienced professionals who provide clients with quality brokerage and relocation services, and unique overseas development opportunities as well as consignment sales, property management and leasing services. Supported by an impressive track record of success, the real estate business of Sumitomo Tokyo has played a strategic role as part of Sumitomo Realty & Development Group which owns 200 office buildings and develops 5,000 condominium units every year in Japan. With 272 offices (As of April , 2020) in Japan, Sumitomo Tokyo has about 37,000 cases of sale brokerages per year with approximately 11.8 billion dollars (As of March , 2019) in annual transaction volume.
